The United States recently slapped on a 19.3% penalty to Canadian Lumber saying that the government subsidises our lumber industry too much.

From everything I've heard over the last number of years (at least when the NDP was in power) was that the government was more a hinderance than a help.  But I don't know any real facts to support either case.

A news web site said the following on how this will affect us:  "A 19.3 per cent duty would cost Canadian producers well over $1 billion and could devastate high-cost lumber mills in British Columbia, Canada's biggest wood-producing province."

Those Americans are really pissing me off.  Just when we elect a provincial government that might actually kickstart our economy, this happens.

Ok, I'm done griping now.
