It has been way too long since I've updated this page.  Spare time I have had little of lately.  But here we go - a look into the recent life of Dave.

I recently went to one of my good friend's wedding.

Congratulations Tammy & Dan!

Movie Review!  Well, anybody who knows me knows that I am going to highly recommend Star Wars II Attack of the Clones.  It was awesome!   The special effects were, as usual, amazing.  It was somewhat lacking in space combat, but more than made up for it with all of the lightsabre duels.  The Yoda fight scene was worth the price of admission on its own.  That little guy can move when he wants to!

Now the biggest complaint I've heard about the movie so far was the cheesy dialog between Anakin and Padmé.  But hey, its fantasy!  When I first saw the movie (midnight, the first night it was out), I too was cringing a little at the dialog.  But the second time I saw it (yes, I'm a geek), I tried to get into the frame of mind similar to if I were watching Romeo and Juliet, not realistic dialog, but appropriate to the play.  The movie was much more enjoyable that way, and the cheesy dialog seemed to fit.

They had minimum Jar-Jar which was good.  3PO filled in the roll for comic relief.

Oh, and Natalie Portman is hot!

I can hardly wait for Episode III.

They found a lot more water on Mars recently than they originally thought was there.  Well, actually, they were detecting hydrogen, but the most likely source of all that hydrogen is in water.  It is frozen and mixed with the Martian rocks, but it is there.  They were only able to detect to about a meter beneath the surface, so there may be even more than they think underneath.

If true, this means that it is going to be much easier to travel to Mars, as you only need to bring water and fuel for the trip there.  Once there, you can extract the water to drink, and extract the hydrogen from the water for fuel.  You would be able to replenish your stores for the trip back.

Anyone who has listened to the news lately has learned that Paul Martin was axed from his long term as minister of finance.  I think that being fired the way he was might make him a political martyr.  In a leadership race between Martin and Chrétien, I think that Martin might pull ahead.  Which means that we could be looking at our next Prime Minister.

I voted liberal in the last two federal elections.  If Martin becomes the head of the liberal party, that trend will come to an abrupt halt.

Once upon a time, our former finance minister held a different job.  He was on the board of directors for Imasco Ltd.  Imasco owns Imperial Tobacco Ltd., the largest cigarette manufacturer in Canada.  I'm not sure when or how long he was employed there, but I would guess that many thousands of people died from using their product while he was there.

While he may have been an excellent minister of finance (after all, the drive for profit no matter how many people die shows a certain amount of passion for finance), I don't think that he is an appropriate choice to be the leader of our country.
