Well, Vancouver got the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Congratulations Vancouver!

I hope it is worthwhile, after all, my tax dollars are going to help create all of the infrastructure required to host the event

But that money will probably all be recouped from the influx of tourists.

Probably.

But there was a vote to determine if we wanted the olympics, and the Yes side won.

Of course, I wasn't able to vote since I don't live in Vancouver, even though I'll help pay for it.

But money shouldn't be an issue.  We could always close down more hospitals, court houses and schools.

Though probably not in Vancouver.

After all, what's more important, health care and education, or an oversized sporting event?

Well, the oversized sporting event of course.  Duh!

Still, I think I would have been disappointed if Vancouver didn't get the games.

And by then, I'll have a seven-year-old, so maybe I'll take him/her to the games.   Should be fun.

Congratulations Vancouver!
