I C U

Well, we're into the second half of the first month of the third year of the millenium.   And here I am in defiance of every urge to get into shape, sitting on my ass in front of my computer eating raw cookie dough.  On the up side I haven't had any coca-cola in 18 days, so hopefully that will eventually help reduce the gut.  The continuing karate classes I am taking help too, and as soon as it gets somewhat warm I shall dig out the bike again.

The world's politics have been quasi-interesting as of late.  Here we have our enormous neighbor to the south flexing their muscles.  To be honest I can't blame North Korea for doing what they are doing.  They've been labeled part of the Axis of Evil and are currently watching the US trying to find any excuse to attack another member of the Axis.  They must have been thinking that eventually they would be next.   And in any war, what hope would they have?  The US is the most powerful nation on the planet and if they wanted to invade and take over a tiny country somewhere, there isn't a lot that would stop them.  The only thing that would stop them would be the threat of nuclear weapons.  So, I can't really blame North Korea for trying to get some in a hurry.  In their eyes, it might be the only thing that will stave off an invasion.  The scary part is that they seem like a cornered animal, one of the few communist countries left.  If they feel like they have nothing left to loose and they have nukes, well, I hope it doesn't come to that.  Things could get messy.

And, well, local politics have been pathetic as usual.  Way to go, Gordo.

I myself am looking forward to an extremely relaxing week aboard a really large boat sailing in the Caribbean.  Keep an eye on the album page as there will eventually be some vacation pictures there.

What else can I say on this fine overcast grey day.  The Royal Bank pissed me off the other day with a fifteen dollar "inactive account fee" on the savings account I don't use anymore.  No notice or warning, they just stole $15 dollars out of my account.  I would probably have been more mad if on that very day I hadn't received my Bay gift certificates I get for using my VISA a lot.  Buying a new pair of shoes and a new pair of jeans for $2.45 is really cool.  Anyway, the savings account is now closed.

I wonder what the world will be like in 30 years.  It has changed a lot since I've been alive.

Well, time to go...
