Ah insomnia... gotta love it.
Corbin turned one last Saturday. I can't believe it has been a whole year since he was born. It's amazing how much they change in so short a time. When we brought him home from the hospital, he could barely move. Now, he's walking around everywhere. The birthday party was fun. My mom and Bonnie's mom came to visit, and proceeded to spoil him as much as possible. But, they're grandparents, so I guess that's allowed. I don't really have any insightful comments about fatherhood. Before Corbin was born, other parents said that he would change our lives in ways we would never expect. Obviously, our lives have been changed significantly, but I don't think there has been anything I haven't really expected. I knew we were going to adore and love him immensely. I knew he was going to amaze us constantly as he reached new levels of development. I knew he was going to be the smartest, cutest baby on, quite possibly, the entire planet. I knew there would be sleep depravation. Maybe I didn't realize just how much sleep depravation.
Work has been.... interesting.
Went to Dr. Jeremy and Dr. Aislinn's wedding a few weeks ago. I think Corbin will be the smartest kid around only until they decided to have kids. They were true to their professions during the wedding ceremony. The justice of the peace described the rings as such: "Aislinn's ring is made a platinum... with a atomic weight of 195... Jeremy's ring is made of gold... with a atomic weight of 196..." Part of the ceremony involved them drinking some mead together.
Summer has come and gone, and I didn't exercise nearly as much as I was planning. Still, since the start of the year, I've lost about 5 to 10 pounds through various methods. If I can keep that rate up, I should be at around my target weight in 2007. Karate starts up again in a couple of weeks so that should help.
Well, time to make another attempt at sleep...
