Where did the year go? That's what I've been asking myself lately. It's been quite a busy year.
Things started out fairly slow in January. Work was steady for both of us. Bonnie was working on a pharmacy course, and I was plugging along on a few projects. Corbin was astounding us with his rapidly increasing vocabulary.
February and March saw things start to get a little intense. I got a new client - the Ministry of Forests, and it seemed like each and every one of my other clients came at me with something new. There were large new projects for Celgar and Western Forest Products. My old boss in White Rock sold his company, but the new owners were still interested in me helping out, so there was work coming from there. One of the Cronos clients - Tembec Pine Falls, wanted me to look at another large project, but I had to put them off. (That one is on my plate for next year).
Meanwhile, Bonnie was putting in a lot of hours to try and finish her pharmacy course and study for the final exam.
Thankfully, it was around that time that Corbin started to sleep better.
In April, I started looking for heeeeeeeelp! Out went the resume's to all the various universities, looking for a computer programmer to hire. I got a few applicants, but I was someone who emailed me out of the blue that I eventually hired. In June, I hired Rick. The only other person I ever hired was a co-op student once, but that was only temporary. This is a permenant full-time position. It's kind of a good and scary feeling all at the same time. It was difficult to go against my urge to 'do it all myself'.
Theoretically, with the hire of a new programmer, the workload would ease off me. However, I believe all of my clients are phycic and decided to ask for even more work.
Bonnie took her final exam in Seattle and passed, becoming a certified geriatric pharmacist (one of five in western Canada).
At some point, we realized that if we wanted to eventually have another kid, we would need another bedroom. So after a short house hunt, we bought a new place. We were a little worried about how Corbin would adjust, but he did just fine.
During all this time, Corbin started figuring out the alphabet and numbers. He's pretty good at counting up to ten. He's just started asking us what words say, so I think he's figured that when we read to him, we're reading all those nifty letters on the page.
